Anyone use curry leaves?

I always thought that "curry" is just the name for a mixture of many different spices, like in this recipe for example.

But apparently there is such a thing as a curry leaf.

I take it these are not used at all in Thai cooking?

Oh yeah, in the simmer stage when cooking lighter curries.

It looks like a bay leaf.

Kari leaves... use them all the time. The usual method is to toss the leaves and other spices into the pan first and sizzle them a bit. I get fresh kari leaves at the local Asian market.

In north India I had never heard of them, but then moved to south India and they were used a lot. We had a tree in our yard.
