I moved out to the Twin Cities in '98, and WOW! The State Fair is amazing, second largest in the nation behind only Texas. Great food, lots of fun, my family and I go every year at least once. Also, I learned the trick to the stand the bottle up game, the one where you try to lift the bottle up with the ring at the end of the string from a stick. I tried my first year there and didn't win. So I got bitter and made my own practice set up. A dowel and shower curtain ring from Home Depot with a bit of string, an empty Corona bottle, and I practiced. I have won at least one of the large stuffed animals every year since. A little off topic, but I love the state fair.

The Ice Cream Hotdog actually looks good and also looks like it would be easy to eat in a fair setting.

I always wanted to do a deep fried burger. cooked 1/2 pound patty, dip it in a egg wash, then roll it in crushed Captain Crunch particles for a sticky sweet layer, now here is where i give you the option of either dipping this mess into a funnel cake batter and deep frying it to a nice golden brown or spicy wasabi tempura batter and deep frying to a nice golden brown. You can even have it on a stick.

I haven't ever made one, let me know if you do.

No way would I ever eat any of that, but I do know some people who would. I have never even eaten a corn dog!

I tried a corn dog. Got about half way through it and that was enough corn dog experience for me.

There might be some more "enlightened" corn dogs but I haven't heard of them.

Most of that stuff seemed to originate in Texas. No wonder that state smells worst than Jersey.

A lot of that stuff seems like the sort of stuff that I'd cook around 2 AM after a wild night... while the wife was away, of course... and in the dark, while tears gently run down my face from the combination of joy and sheer guilt and shame of actually thinking about torturing my body by eating that much pure junk at once.

And there lies the true dichotomy of living in the so-called "civilized" society of America. So wrong but oh so wonderful!
