I read about the weed killer part before, so I tried it on dandelions. It weakened the dandelions and killed the grass around them. Well that article I read didn't say anything about killing grass too! I gave the dandelions nice cleared spots to grow back up in . It's funny now lol

The devil, as they say, is in the details.

I didn't go to the link. But I do know a little something about using vinegar in the garden. The USDA found it to be an effective weed killer. But what they tested was a 20% solution. Culinary vinegars range from 4-6%, with white vinegar almost universally 5%.

Which may explain why vinegar can be both a weed killer and fertilizer. Depends on strength.

It's like many low-level botanicals. Used in the proper strength they can cure certain diseases. Used in too high a strength and they are fatally toxic.

so if I spray the 5% white vinegar on the weeds are they going to grow bigger or wilt? And where do you find 20%

I mix distilled white vinegar and rubbing alcohol and use it to clean the counter tops.

It is also great in the coffee machine.

Tastes good too!

luckily my wife has discussed this several times with me. You will find the 20% solution at some of your finer organic farm supplies. Which she used to be manager of one of the largest suppliers for 6 years. Peaceful Valley Farm Supply, Grass Valley, California. while i don't like the owners that much, they do supply a good product, sigh.

She was also the organic farm advisor for the company, and people would ask for the weed killing strength vinegar. That's a problem. Apparently they can't sell it to you for weed killing purposes, but they CAN sell it to you for balancing the ph of your soil. So go balance the ph in the soil around those weeds will ya?
