I'm a home cooking enthusiast who likes to take it a step further than most home cooks. I love cooking, watch mostly cooking shows on TV, and love flipping through cookbooks.
I learned to cook from my brother when we were young, single and sharing an apartment. He had just graduated from Johnson-Wales culinary program and was a pretty good teacher.
My wife is a great cook but she doesn't enjoy doing it after a hard day at her "9 to 5" so I cover most of the cooking duties in our household. I love the smells, the tastes, even the sounds. It relaxes me after a day at my rather dry occupation of writing federal regulations for my federal agency employer. I love to pour a cocktail and start rattlin' the pots and pans. We even redecorated our small house, taking down the wall that separated the kitchen from the living/dining area and putting in an island to make the cooking a family or social event.
I'm planning to branch out into baking, too. I'm looking forward to picking up some pointers from the knowlegeable folks on cheftalk.
