Many first posts are moderated. Sometimes the moderators don't get to approving the posts until the next day, so if you need immediate help and you don't see your post, chances are that it's in the moderating queue.

How to avoid this? It's simple. Just use the forum when you're not having some cooking emergency. Introduce yourself, answer someone else's question, or just ask a question. When it comes crunch time and you need to figure out how to make twelve souffles ahead of time for your MIL at least you know your question will appear on the board.
