What to cook with?

I asked a curious question at a local cooking school and was unable to get a solid answer due to time constraints. What is the best set to cook on the stove top with? I had original teflon but recently my wife bought me a fabulous stainless set of which I remarked how evenly it cooked.

Browse through the postings on the 'Cooking equipment reviews' The ones on All-clad, wedding gifts and non-stick might give you some useful information.
