It's my sister's birthday on Monday and I was looking to bake her a cake. Recently she's had a few health issues and has been forced by her doctor to limit her intake of processed sugars and sugar substitutes. I went looking online for diabetic cake recipes, however all the results came back with sugar substitutes like equal and splenda, which are equally as bad, if not worse for my sister.

So my question: Does anyone have a cake recipe that uses a natural sugar source, like honey, agave, or cane sugar? I'm specifically looking for a dense cake since I'm planning on carving it, and fondant-ing it.
