Hi, I'm new to this forum, although I've read some of the threads before when looking for tips on how to do things.
I like to experiment with cake decorating, mostly for family and friends. Maybe when I'm done being a stay at home mother I'll look into actually going pro, but for now my toddler eats all of my time, and my cake. :)
My gallery of cakes is on my website but I can't post the URL because I haven't made 5 posts yet.
I've never taken a formal class, but I've got a few books on novelty/children's cakes and I went to the ICES show in Las Vegas because I lived there at the time, so I got to go to a few seminars as part of that.
Now that I live in Austin, I've joined the local cake decorator's club and they're having a big show in February, so if I feel brave I might actually enter a competition.
But at the moment I'm making an elaborate cake for my daughter's third birthday in a few weeks, so I'm googling for tips on pouring sugar. I think I've watched too many competitions on Food Network. :)
