Candy thermomoter

Thread Starter
I've been wanting to experiment with tempering chocolate, however, the candy thermometer I have doesn't go below 100 degrees, and that is what I need for tempering. I can't seem to find a thermometer that reaches below 100 anywhere. Does anyone have any advice as to where I could get one?
Thanks..

Find a hair drier, turn to hot and then set it a distance away from your mixer's bowl. set the distance such that the temperature of the mixing bowl on the hair dryer side is proper. start with mixing some water in the bowl and make sure that temperature is appropriate. use a pen thermometer for that. or you could buy a second hand tempering machine.

Any instant read thermometer. Taylor makes a water proof, digital instant read with a range from around -40F, to around 400F for less than 15 buckaroos.

BDL. the yellow one? I tried (and failed) to deep fry mine the other night.
It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!!!

Z best!

MBW, you'll love this one, easy to keep and difficult to break!
bake first, ask questions later.
Oooh food, my favorite!

Taylor Commercial Waterproof Digital Instant Read Thermometer - Thermometers & Temperature Probes

You might be able to find it from a less expensive or more convenient source, but the model 9842 is THE pro instant read.
