You mean the two current commericals about high fructose corn syrup, and what ever could be wrong with this product made from corn?

What could be wrong with it, besides...
  • replacing the nutrients in real fruit juice with empty calories?
  • "enhancing" foods that weren't terribly sweet naturally, so we all get a craving for sweeter and sweeter "enhanced" foods?
  • fattening up most of America??
Any thoughts?

How about some MSG (monosodium glutamate) and TRANSFAT? Of course, in moderation.
Unfortunately most of the people, believe in whatever TV delivers to them.

I love the ad featuring a number of cute kids dressed up as nutritious fruits & veggies, and then another child says "I'm high-fructose corn-syrup, and I'v been C h E m i C a L l Y a L t E r e D ".

Yes, I remember that ad. The glop was oozing off the side of the kid's costume.

Ed, you hit the nail on the head: Much of American convenience food is quite unhealthful. It's okay for a treat, but not every day. I wince when I see people in the grocery store with a cart-full of frozen pizza, boxed meals, "healhty" snacks like sugar-laden granola bars, and canned food ("Beef-a-roni"). That last one was my favorite when the parents went out on Saturday nights.
