wine suggestion for scampi

Looking for a wine pairing for shrimp scampi & caprese salad. I'd prefer to stay around $20 or less if possible and I wouldn't mind suggestions for any reds that might be appropriate.

How about a sparkling white in keeping with the Italian theme a Prosecco perhaps? I wouldn't go for red but a Pinot Grigio blush could work.

Thanks for the suggestions - sorry for the delayed response. I'm leaning towards a white, maybe a chardonnay - any ideas on a good one? I'd prefer to stay domestic.

If you want to use Chardonnay I would not use an oaked one with shrimp. Something light and crisp like a sauvignon blanc, Chablis or Gavi, it depends on your location and what is available. Im hoping someone else will chime in who knows your location.

for whites I would go with a pinot grigo or a hearty sauv blanc, St. Michelle Horse Heaven Vineyard or Sterling Vinters are two of my favorites.

But I also think those flavors would stand up to a nice Chianti or an Oregon Pinot Noir?

Enjoy,
Nan
