Will you get a flu shot this year? (I will.)

Did you get the vaccine last year? (I did.)

Have you ever had that really BAD flu? I had it in 1994 and it took three weeks out of my life. Now I get the shot.

I started getting flu shots after the flu pandemic in 1984(6?) or thereabouts. Never was that sick before, and suddenly realized why people die from the flu.

In 1918 or thereabouts, 50 million people died from the flu pandemic worldwide. My father's mother was one of them.

SO even though I'm "sure" that I got arthritis of the fingertips because of the flu shots, I still think that's better than getting the flu.

FUnny, though, how little we hear nowadays about "bird flu". Did all the birds die or what? !

I started getting flu shots sometime in the 1990s after I realized that, after passing the flu around in the dorms, my students would share their bugs with me :(. I had a colleague who wouldn't grade papers without his surgical gloves on :p.

My company offers free flu shots every year.
I never took them up on it.
I went 2 years without being sick at all, when the next free shots rolled around.
I thought I should get one, to keep my streak going.
So I got the shot.
Then I got very ill.
Haven't had a shot since.

Untill I'm older I think I'll keep passing it up.

I get it every year for the past 20 years

I got mine already; my doctor makes sure I get one. I had my pneumonia shot a year ago, so I'm good with that for a few more years. If I had a respiratory ailment, I could very well need to be hospitalized. I cough and wheeze enough when I'm not sick!

I get one every year. When I was working in the casino everyone was hacking on you or sneezing on the slot machines(I won't touch one barehanded ). Now that I am semi retired and back in college I will get one in case it goes through the younger students. At 48 I don't need to be getting really sick.

Got mine last Friday. One less thing to think about now.

No, I won't be getting a flu shot this year and neither will my children or significant other. In the past when I have had a flu shot, I've actually gotten sick more often than the times I haven't had one. I'll just take my chances. Knock on wood, it's been over 5 years since any of us needed to visit a physician and we're all pretty healthy overall.

I may get one ... if my doc thinks I should have one, I will - and she probably will - but I'll check with her first. It's free for me, and I don't even have to go out of my way to get it ...

nope nope and nope. I've spent years building up this here immune system by never wearing a coat, and not washing my hands after using the NYC subway a few times a day...no way I'm going to waste it! :D

My fiance, who works in a hospital gets one though, she get's sick more often than me. I get sick maybe once every 2-4 years, and it only lasts 24 hours anyway. Dad too, he has never been sick more than 24 hours here and there for all of my life that I can remember.

My cousins, thier mom (my aunt) doesn't believe in ANY vaccinations and they are the healthiest kids I've ever seen.

I'm sure one day my immune system will say "screw this" and I may end up biting the bullet (or needle) but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
