Hi,

I'm a fairly serious home cook and an academic. I'm on sabbatical this year in Kyoto, and spending much of my time getting into cooking -- Japanese and otherwise -- at a much higher level than before.

Have a look around at all the forums, but don't miss the cooking articles, blogs, photo gallery and other great features we have here. While the professional forums are considered "read only" for home cooks like you and me, you're encouraged to browse and read there to your heart's content. It's truly amazing how much you can learn here! In my own years here I've gained confidence and been inspired to try dishes and techniques I was too timid to try before.
