Great find Shel, one of my butchers is there Abu Elias( the biggest one in Montreal), he has the best filet mignon

One of the Halal markets in Berkeley isn't on the list, but a couple that I didn't know about are. Gotta do some investigating.

Jetro aka Restaurant Depot has a huge halal selection of meats including whole, well actually headless, hanging goats in the fridge section. Walk down the cheese aisle & meat aisle turn the corner in this refrigerated room and low & behold there are hanging carcuses on the endcap next to the skim milk and cans of whipped cream shtuff.

NYTimes had an article on Bill Nieman last week, he's out of the cow and pig business.....apparently Nieman Ranch was bought out and the quality isn't to his standards.....but Bill has started a boar goat business. Bet anything within 3-5 years goat will be prevalent on restaurant menus.

Niman left the company in August or Sept of 2007. There was a disagreement about operating procedures between Niman and his partners, and the partners, having invested a lot of money in the operation, prevailed and Bill left.
