What are the essentials for a kitchen? - Page 2

ABE needs Potholders believe me, and a lot more:lol:

Also consider 3 maiden heads for the stockpot, as well as some rubber biscuits, to steady them on the stove!

A pressure cooker, good paring knife and a chopping knife, in that order, would be the top three things on the list.

My grandma's cast iron, a decent 6 or 8 inch knife and a source of heat. I'm good.

No one said French or piano whip!!!! Can't live without that. And I only have one frying pan. It's big one, as I can put something small in a big pan, but I can't put something large in a small one.

You must not forget a good set of cookbooks.... or at least a telephone, so you can easily get a hold of your wise grandmother :)

I'd stress a good pair of tongs or cooking chopsticks. I often find that when I cook at someone else's house, they don't have any way to turn food easily in a pan, which comes up constantly.

I hate to complain, but potholders? Tongs? What is it with kids today? They still got feeling in their hands?

Can you say "grill station?"

12" cast iron pan, metal spatula, knife, and fork.

What do you call those pans that are halfway between a pot and a saute pan? Like a small mixing bowl with a handle?

If I had to have one pan that'd be it.

That one made me laugh. While fixing dinner tonight I flipped over a couple strips of frying bacon using my fingers. Kids these days, indeed!
