Hi all,

Have around 30 people on Sunday for a buffet.

What "one pot" recipes do you have that are a winner ? It's pretty cold in the UK right now something warming would be good.

Here in the States, one of the dishes that fits your need is Chili with Beans -- meat, beans, spices -- with accompaniments like shredded Cheddar or similar cheese, chopped onions, sliced pickled peppers, and tortilla chips.

If that sounds too exotic for your crowd, how about a beef or lamb stew? Easy to do in large quantity (especially if you cook it in the oven), and you can load it with chunks of potato, carrot, turnip, etc. And if you make it early, so much the better -- the flavor improves as it sits. That plus a nice salad or green veg and some good bread, and you're good to go.

Google "Delta Doc's Garlic Beef". Literally hundreds of people have raved about this dish. Be sure you use "hard rolls" that will hold up to the sauce that this dish makes. You won't want to waste a drop!

I served it at a big party once, and almost everyone begged me for the recipe!

chili was the first thing that came to mind.....then the stews......

How about Shepard's Pie, or chicken pot pie or coq a vin or chicken mirabelle

In the Recipes forum there is a thread on Texas chili, and I posted a sort of recipe for making a BIG batch of chili using a whole beef brisket, that may be helpful.

Or perhaps some sort of Italian, tomato based fish stew, or any number of fairly simple curries. Or a mess of chicken wing segments done in an adobo style sauce (Spanish, Phillipine, Bolivian, take your pick )

Hope it turns out well.

How about a big pot of curry? After all, it IS now supposed to be the British 'national' dish!
