I bought one of these just for making osso buco. I found myself using it for a lot more than just that. I make tomato sauce in it, chili, any excuse I have to bust it out, I do. I absolutely...
I have always loved Indian food but like many who have never travelled to india itself i have often wondered how authentic the Indian food i have eaten actually is. This book has convinced...
I've owned one of these for over 3 years now, using it daily. I've never had to sharpen (grind) it, just an occasional run along a fine steel, and it's held a wonderful edge for everyday prep....
I purchased my first Smart grinder nine months ago. I was thrilled with it and thought I had found the perfect grinder for a French press grind that would change settings quick and...
Having seen Whale Wars and recently read a few articles about Japanese whaling, I was wondering if anyone here has eaten whale meat, especially recently. Would anyone even admit it?
Although not recently. A very fashionable restaurant opened on the waterfront in Boston around forty years ago. Forgottem the name. They made a very big thing about their specialty, whale steak.
Being even then on the foodie cutting edge (before the term was coined, even) we went to try it.
We were served big cuts of what looked like prime rib. They were gorgeuos! We carved off a bite - texture like prime, prime rib.
It tasted like... cod liver oil. :(
Maybe they've figured out a better way to do whale since then.
I bet that was quite a disappointment. If that's what whale meat tastes like (maybe different species taste different - although I can't imagine them tasting much different) I don't understand the Japanese desire for it.
I've had it last year, when I was in japan. But only paper thin slices, it's quite fatty, and couldn't really distinguish the taste, but it sure as **** wasn't delicious.
