Birth day cake

Besides being Christmas Eve, today is also my 9 year old’s birth day. Somehow, even though we try for it not to be so, her birth day tends to get lost in Christmas. This year I swore that she would not get the short end of the cake stick. Her little brothers always get their super-hero of choice motif and her little sister has had better cakes than her and little sister is only two! I won’t even go into how many cakes big sister has gotten!!! I felt it was time for my Christmas Eve baby to have an over the top cake of her very own.

Thanks to jfield for the advice about steaming the gum paste flowers, the difference is remarkable.

Thanks Mezzaluna,
The birthday girl really liked it, she called it her “garden”.
It’s a golden cake with a vanilla wash and a white chocolate ganache filling.
