I haven't worked with my daughter, but then again, she's only 2. But I did work for my parents when they owned their restaurant. I was only 8 at the time it opened but I used to bus tables occasionally and wash dishes. For awhile I was also in charge of tearing up heads of Iceberg lettuce for salads. Basically, I helped out anywhere an 8-10 yo. could. Didn't really enjoy it at the time, but now I look back on those times with a lot of fondness.

I can remember 20 or so years ago and my then step-daughter washing dishes with the help of a chair. She was only 5 and then when she turned 16 turns out she came to work with me then also.a great time for real life bonding

Yeah, sometimes good, sometimes bad. My daughter is 15 now and helps out maybe 8-12 hrs/week. Bit of an attitude problem right now, can't take criticism, does allright on the espresso machine but not consistant. Wants to be paid more too, doesn't like the $6/hr we're paying her. Finally told her to calculate her paycheque @ minimum wage and deduct the CPP, EI, and other ones, PLUS what she consumes and takes back home for next day's lunch. She's good with numbers, actually good in all subjects and I know she worked it out, but she still tells me she hasn't had the time yet...

Little guy is 10 now, only thing he wants to do--and only thing I can get him to do is to peel apples with the hand-cranked apple peeler and to work the dough sheeter. Other than that he sits in the office and plays compuker games. Crashed the hard drive before Christmas 'cause he down-loaded too many kiddie games.

Foodpump my oldest is now 27 and when she was her age I didn't know anything and couldn't do any thing right. I couldn't figure it out ,because a few years earlyer I was the most clever person on earth go figure. If it is any consolation when she moved out about two years after that she said she was sorry for all the attitude she had given me. She said she learned alot that helped her as an adult. I feel your pain, but it is worth it if I could just grt the next one to see the older ones point it will be great. There all different and all times with them are great good and bad.

My eldest son is 27 years old....he thinks I'm hard, really hard and swore never to work in the food business.....since then he's done some weddings and other large events. NOT a good match. He's thorough but slow, really slow.

My middle son has not worked for me, but my youngest who just turned 20 is a joy. He does what needs to be done. I adore working with this kid.

My niece was flakey and floaty as all get out....until she went to college and worked at a college cafeteria, she came back WAY more grounded. She's super to work with. Still gotta get the timing thing down. She's also big into music as she works, typically I prefer silence or limited talking if there are too many things swirling around my noggin. Easy paced prep time can have music, but it's just not a priority for me.
