Hello, my name is Brandi. I am a 28 yr old single mother of 2 children ages 10 and 6. I went to culinary school and have yet to finish my 2 gen-ed classes needed to graduate because I work way too much. Technically should have graduated 2 yrs ago.
I am the Pastry Chef at a members club here in Baltimore Maryland. I absolutely LOVE my job and everything about it...yes, even the long hours! I live, breath and even dream pastry. This is what makes me happy and I truly feel this is what I was put on earth to do. I also teach kids culinary classes (children ages 8-13 or so) at the local college. I am ALWAYS searching for new ideas thus I own like every culinary book possible.
I went to Italy on an internship in 2007 and ended up being offered a "Chef de Partie" position. I am still surprised I survived the madness of this particular kitchen (yes, this Chef will give Gordan Ramsey a run for his money!). Previous students left the internship early due to the stress level and I was originally told I wouldnt be able to handle it...but THEY WERE WRONG! I went back for a second season last summer and hope to do so again this year because I enjoy working in a fast paced, stressful kitchen. I feel like I learn more in this kind of environment.
I hope I didnt bore any of you too much but Im so thrilled to have found this forum/website where I can talk food and people actually understand! lol :bounce:
looking forward to communicating with all of you and hopefully learning as well!
