cooking compeition

hi i have just joined this forum and its great, anyway i have a cooking competition in a couple of weeks and i have to cook a main meal for 2 for under £7.50.
i was woudering if anyone had any good recipes or ideas that i can use to amaze the judges.

mmmmm....how about a mac and cheese? Noodles are cheap, and if you use a good cheese, you dont need much else.

Have fun with the competition!

You are a student, dont ask us to supply a recipe or do your homework for you. Look it up in any good cookbook , maybe you will learn something else while browsing.:chef:

How much is that in american dollars? Sorry for my ignorance, it's just that I can't do conversions very quick and my mobil isn't near me...

Quick check shows 7.50 pound sterling = USD 10.50 (approximate)

Then you could make a salad! It's vegan and delicious at the same time!

That's about $5 US a person, and personally I don't think salad's a good idea for a competition.

Substitute the cost of ingredients into the amount of effort you expend... I think pasta ispartly on the right track, it is an inexpensive ingredient that you can make from scratch and evolve into more interesting forms (ravioli, cannelloni, gnocchi, etc.). Also, consider really capitalizing on vegetables while utilizing smaller quantities of meat and not as a slab in the middle of the plate (use it to accent the dish, it'll help fire your creativity).
