I have a large vending operation for my client. We cater to about 1000 employees in a upscale cafeteria setting. they have 4 large break rooms with over 40 vending machines, for snack food and a 150 seat cafe. I have been checking with all my food items because of the Peanut butter problem. I have taken some items out of the machines that were not even on the recall List, just to be safe. I recieved a sample for a Kashi cookie about 2 months ago and tried it, it was good, I was looking for a healthy cookie snack. I got a e mail last week that there is a recall for that cookie I ate 2 months ago. I dogged another bullet, or I would have to be checking my E-mail in Heaven. Just when I thought I was safe, I got a E.Mail last night from Food Services of America, My salesman said, Pull the Blue Bunny Ice cream cones, they are on recall. The peanuts on the cone are from the plant in question. I reacted in 2 minutes to take the product out of circulation. My question is, Why does it take the Government so long to get their **** together. We have Kids in schools and our families in nursing homes eatting these food items daily. Isn't it time we react faster to a food recall that has already killed people, and could kill more. The Dept of Home land security worries about terrorists tainting our food supply. I would worry about the greedy CEO'S sending out Salmonella laced food. How can a food company have Rats and not be inspected for years. I think this recall started in early January, today is Feb 19th. I wonder how many bullets I can dodge, before they kill me, or put me out of business for killing my customers................Stay safe...Bill

Thanks for the heads up. One jerk of a company ruins it for the rest of them.

Kuan!
Unfortunatly it is much more then one company, in the past year tons of dog food were recalled, 9 million pounds of beef for e-coli, tons of canned chili, strawberries, lettuce and loads of other things. All of these items were finally caught, well after distribution with many sicknesses and deaths(pnut butter alone 8 deaths) If they would prosacute these people for manslaughter maybe this would not happen. Having worked in USDA inspected places I can tell you in all honesty WATCH WHAT U BUY It is due to greed on the manufacturers part and inept government regulators(FDA_USDA) .Some of them walk around all day with clipboard and white jacket and do nothing except discuss last night tv programs. Having been in this business over 50 years, I can tell you that there was less problems years ago then there is now. The government has to set up a Dept of Food Police with the power to prosacute and close plants on a moments notice. that overseas all production ,staffed with real food people, Abolish the USDA and the 70 other agencies that have to do with food inspection, and let it all be under one agency.:D

It angers me that due to fear of Salmonella down here the health authorities have virtually banned raw egg products made inhouse and instead we have to make do with mass produced crap in a can. Surely it's better in the long term for peoples health to be eating natural additive free foods :/

I'm old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan gutted out the USDA. Experts in the industry warned us then that this would happen. Not that the USDA was perfect. I knew people working in meat packing places that talked about dropping meat on the floor. When the pile got high enough, the on site inspector took a convenient bathroom break so they could pick it up and put it back on the line without him "seeing" it. What I find beyond irresponsible is the U.S. government continuing to import food and drugs from China after all the problems with their products. Lethal problems. And where are all the U.S. products? I dropped crawfish from my menu because all my suppliers carry is Chinese crawfish and it's crap, not to mention I don't know anything about the production of it. Where is all the U.S. crawfish going? You can't get cod that isn't processed in China, or Canadian walleye for that matter. Yeah, we don't need terrorists, we have the U.S. government shoving dangerous crap on us.
