Making Chicken Tikka masala From a food&wine recipe this weekend.

Any reason I can't just brown on the stove top in the same Le Creuset that I'm going to be cooking in?

trying to cut down on the dishes.

Sure, you could.

But the reason for broiling is to approximate the superhot tandoor, giving you a tasty char on the chicken. (It's those brown spots you're after.)

Unless you want to be really green, ;) why not just line the broiler pan with foil?

I would. I'm not very particular about cooking methods. I just cook and don't worry too much about recipe directions.

Yeah, i'm only green when it's "cool" to be green. At home, pfftt...I don't even recycle. shhhh.

haha. good idea, guess a lot of the char when doing it stovetop sticks to the pan ala fond.

I'd grill it personally. Then it's not so much doing dishes as just burning the gunkies off the grill afterwards.
