Murp! blade side down so you wont get cut when you reach for , and if wet water drains down.

I disagree, blades should point upwards to avoid cutting onesself and to facilitate removal from the magnets.

Best and I'm a foodie.   I know very little but the little that I know I want to know very well.

have only had one in a galley and was not sure of blade up? blade down? but it was mounted high and easy to brush one loose and send it flying when reaching for something above. Only used it a day or so, got skeered!
Worry a bit if one wasn't paying careful attention when removing a pan.

sorry,
Nan

In this case, the perfect place to mount it is underneath the top of the cart. Protected, safe, out of the way yet easy to get to. Even better to mount it between drawer slides there so it pulls out, at least enough to tell which knife is which.

I kind of like it where it's at, and with the blades that way actually (kinda why I put it there and that way!). and you could fall into it and the knives arent coming off the magnets,

under the cart, bad idea, i hang all my tongs, and spatulas etc. there...plus its way closer to the jewels.

that was my main concern, if the magnet is really, really strong, looks like a good place.
sorry to be a nervous nellie, it's in my job description.
take care,
Nan

I like your block

Yeah, I vote for "in plain sight." I'm sure you want to show them off! Plus you'll usually be reaching up high enough to take off/put on the pans so that you'll be out of the way of the blades. My only concern would be for the safety of the blades should the pans knock against them.

To change directions of this thread, what brand is that butcher block cart you have there? I'm thinking about getting one for a new place I'm about to move into, and I'm not sure what to look for, and how much I should spend. I really like the size of yours. It's plenty big, but doesn't take up too much space and helps with storage.
