Welcome, Biker, to Chef Talk. Long, long ago (in a galaxy far, far away?!) I lived briefly in Downer's Grove while I student taught at South High School. I have fond memories.

You deserve huge kudos for being a caregiver. I hope you're taking care of yourself, too. Baking and pastry work are great diversions!

You'll note that we have both professional baking and general baking forums. We hope you do browse to learn and enjoy in the professionals' forum, but please consider that as a "read only" forum. Home bakers like you and I can post to our hearts' content in the general forums, however.

Enjoy being part of our community. We hope you visit and participate often. Welcome!

Thank You

I graduated from Downers South in 1973, However, I only took Home Economics in 7th grade at O'neill Jr High, my teacher told me sewing and cooking wasn't my best. so,
I really never started getting serious about cooking, and baking until a few years ago. I just love it. My maiden name back then was Donna Holso, and am now Donna McKenzie, and of course live in DG about 1 mile was DGHS. I am planning on learning alot from your chefs.

Have a Great day

Thanks for giving us your background, Donna. I was at DG in early 1974 in the classroom for physically disabled students; that was my major. I had a great experience there and it laid a good foundation for my 30 years as a teacher.

Aren't there some interesting food markets in your area? I seem to remember an Asian one nearby.... Hm...

Where do your culinary explorations take you? Have you taken the recipe by the horns and made something that you were surprised you pulled off? It's fun to try something new and learn from it.
