Changing my Major

Thread Starter
I've been in school for about a year and a half and I'm majoring in Pastry Arts. I go to a Community College in Las Vegas. Here's the scoop...I've been an avid baker for years and I also have a deep passion for cooking...I've taken 9 required courses for my Associates in Pastry Arts...but I totally desire getting my degree in Culinary Arts. I haven't made the decision yet, but I'm thinking about changing my major. Should I just complete the required Pastry courses...or start over to fulfill the culinary requirements?

Not really looking for a yes or no, I know it's my choice in the end...just looking for some advice from some seasoned chefs....or students.

Thanx a bunch:confused:

Here in Florida in the country club circuit ,it is much harder to find a good pastry chef then a Regular working chef. I think more young people went to the cooking aspect rather then pastry. This created a shortage. If I were you I would learn even more about pastry and baking end. Possibly Europe for example. I think you will be better off. Good Luck to you:bounce:
