A great birthday dinner...that I didn't make! ha.

So, my birthday is never that big a deal. Never used to be...until I met Laurie, and she decided it was. last year she surprised me with a trip to Rhode Island, this year, a spectacular dinner/evening.

A rundown of my evening.
Came home, went for a run, showered...
...came out to this waiting next to the recliner with my favorite bumming around shorts.

Lemme see if I get this right....
Goat cheese herb spread with some white wine drizzled with olive oil. Bruschetta of shitake mushrooms, some scallions and some mint with some parmigiano-reggiano. And a Negroni cocktail. Just in time to watch my guilty pleasure....TMZ.

After TMZ and a glass of white wine, I walked into the kitchen to find this...

Farfalle with hot italian sausage, roasted red peppers, and Kalamata olives, bread, and a bottle of Montepulciano.

You need to pick up the sausage stuffing attachment for the food grinder. You're the kind who needs one.

And Happy Birthday!

Hi RPM,

Thanks for sharing the pictures, it sounds like you had a great time.

Have you taken time to read the bio on James Peterson? It seems you two could have a few things to talk about ( cooking AND photography )

Happy Birthday :)

Aw man forgot the last part!

So I lounged around in my slippers for a while and then came dessert...

Vanilla bean panacotta with raspberry coulis. Was awesome.

The whole dinner was most excellent. Mrs. McMurphy is a **** good cook when I'm not over her shoulders telling her she's doing it all wrong! Doh!

Woulda posted in the what didja eat thread, but thought Laurie deserved some Kudos.

Happy Birthday!

Congratulations to and on Laurie. She did a great job. You're not good enough for her.

Your feet don't look like they've aged a bit.

Doesn't the KA meat grinder kit come with two sausage tubes? You're going to enjoy making sausage. Everything but the clean up. It's serious little-kid cooking. Meat everywhere!

Next time I see you, one of us will make the other a martini or something. Try and arrange it so you're not the designated driver. For the past few months I've only drunk beer, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve or Gran Centenario (ole!) "in a glass."

So on talk radio the other day they were saying you know your woman is good enough to marry if she can make you a grilled cheese sandwich. I guess Ms McMurphy is definitely past that "standard"!

Sending this thread to my wife now - she's gonna HATE it!
