It actually has its uses and is much like a stewed chicken. Quality can be OK. Not as good as fresh of course. Check the ingredients list, it should be just chicken, water and salt and little else. But I've used them for some camping meals where I would be out of ice for fresh storage or where cooking would be problematic.
The gelatin is the natural gelatin that cooks out of the chicken in the canning process and works well for stock purposes, better than many canned stocks actually. I used it for a black beans soup using canned black beans. Was well received. The meat itself was used in a potato salad type thing with chicken, peas and other vegetables.
You CAN create good meals from these odd canned goods and as a remote back country camper, knowing how to use canned goods to their full potential is a good skill to have.
Not useful to everyone of course.
