Hello Everyone!

This is the second time I made Oatmeal raisin cookies and I taste the baking soda? Should I add less or try a different approach such as Baking Powder?

Hello Steedlebug, and welcome to Chef Talk. As you can see, I moved your thread to a much better forum for your baking question. I hope you'll return to the Welcome forum and favor us with an introduction.

As for your cookies: it would be most helpful if you would post your complete recipe. That way we can see if there's something wrong with it or a better way to go about it. Baking powder and baking soda act differently in recipes, so it's best to see it before suggesting solutions.

Happy baking!

HI Mezzaluna,

Trying to use this thread to figure out why, 2 batches of cookies taste like baking soda and had to get dummped today...ugh......the second batch I just did the plain old tollhouse receipe because the first time, I thought maybe it was the new chocolate chip receipe that I found on line that was the problem....both batches are void of any taste and sugar.

Thanks much,Vicki
