On top of that, I think I need a 1(900) prefix for my cell phone so I can start charging by the minute. It seems right around every holiday my phone starts ringing - "Hello, Dial-a-Chef, how can I help you?"- "nope, you can't put frozen chicken on the grill"

Some years ago, after our two older kids were newly-married, the phone began to ring early on Thanksgiving morning, and the questions started..."Mom, Dad, what do I do for..." "Mom, Dad, how should I cook..."

After the fifth or sixth call, I began answering with "Hello, TURKEY HOTLINE" (we didn't have caller ID at the time)

It served well for the rest of the day.

My kids don't wait for holidays. Not a week goes by that one or another of them calls to ask, "Dad, how do you......" or "Dad, you know your recipe for....."

Of course, other family members do the same thing, and this way the kids are at least calling. :lips:

Fair point KYH - that's a silver lining :)

BTW....can anyone with kids and working a job define a "Day Off"? even without kids....if you're busy working, then you've got other work needs doing. Guess that's life....but I'd love to go smell the roses for a day.

I've been asking for a day off for years - I think the young 'uns were 5 and 3 at the time I had my last one. Now they're late teens. <<sigggh>> But I wouldn't be without 'em in a fit.

My day job? If it didn't put bread on the table, I'd take a day off.
Rant over

if youre that busy, you better be making serious money... no sense burning the candle at both ends if youre not getting compensated properly for it.
