I was curious how much behind the scenes the producers are encouraging and trying to promote drama. When the original "survivor" show aired I remember an interview with one of the contestants stating that the producers portrayed her as serious and unfriendly when she was in fact a nice person.

Oh, I think they WANT the drama, but we have to take the high road and think twice before giving in to it. And yes, sometimes it's in the editing. We all have different sides, and what probably happened to the person you mentioned is that the editing showed one side. No balance, which is unfair indeed. That being said, however, it's impossible for the editing to CREATE a persona. There are no lines or scripts that are followed.
