How much time did Top Chef take?

were the elimenated contestants given a per diem for the days they spent waiting? how did they spend their time?

Was everyone responsible for their own travel to NY?

I hope you can appreciate that there are some questions about the logistics of the show that I'm not allowed to answer. We were all sequestered for 5 weeks, then another 5 days for the finale.
