Hi I am Lisa from Wisconsin. I recently started a crafting business, and would like to add fake cake top made out of fondant. I made my first cake with fondant for a grad. party, my friend loved it. I want to give those who can not afford a big elaborate cake, a big elaborate cake for a reasonable price. I am retired, so I have a lot of time on my hands. I found that I really enjoy seeing the smile on peoples face when they see there cake. I am open for to all suggestions.

Hello Lisa, and welcome to Chef Talk. I'm also retired, also from Wisconsin. There's a lot to do in this lovely state! I suggest you pursue answers to your cake questions in the Pastry and Baking General Forum. There you'll get responses from both home cooks/bakers and from professional pastry chefs. You're welcome to read to your heart's content in the professionals' forums, but for home cooks like you and me, we must consider those forums as "read only". Our search tool will also yield plenty of references.

I'm moving more into baking myself, with yeast doughs and decorating on my list of new pursuits. Being able to talk to others who are experienced is a huge help and has boosted my confidence. I'd probably never try such things if I didn't have the encouragement of others here.
