Freezing Fondant

I was just wondering if I could freeze a cake covered in fondant. Has anyone done this with success? I am making a cake for an outside wedding and thought that the frozen cake might hold up better. The cake will be sitting out for 4 hours before it gets cut. I also need to decorate it in royal icing. Will the RI be compromised in the freezer? Thanks!

do a small cake tester!

I would imagine between the extream temperatures and humidity~ you will have melted fondant.

but you never know! are you buying or making your fondant?
bake first, ask questions later.
Oooh food, my favorite!

I did it and it worked ok. But i agree, you should test it first with your own recipe.

SatinIce Rolled Fondant

We just delivered a cake outdoors, hope it holds up! I like SatinIce. It has a flavor people like and it's kinda nice to work with. Though it's not as economical as homeade, it is a popular brand among decorators and is not as expensive as the swiss kind and other American providers. You can find a 20 lb. bucket for 45.99 at Global Sugar Art. That's where I get mine :)
