Finally went and pulled the trigger on purchasing a slicer for the home. Ended up with the Chefs Choice 662. Arrived today (about a week before I expected it) and of course I had to give it a try.:look:
Sliced up some chicken breast I grilled off yesterday. Did a nice job too. Theslicer itself is easy to clean, has a reasonably accurate thickness setting and the sharpener does work as expected. I'd have to say not a bad purchase especially since the place I bought it from, Compact Appliance, threw in a 2 year extended warranty for free.
About the only Cons I'd have to list are the plastic spacer that fits between the Carriage and the carriage glide arm makes it seem unstable if not tightened very, very well. I can see buying some stainless steel washers to eliminate this but well see how it performs when I use it for something heavier like Roast beef. Second is the slicer adjusting plate can allow food to get under the deck where the mounting arm passes through the deck to the dial gear. Not a big issue but they put a metal bottom so nothing can fall directly through to the counter. If it gets heavy use I can see having to take this part off.....frequently....to keep food from causing issues (bugs) and odors.
