Use your favorite brownie recipe. In a bowl over simmering water melt enough caramel candies (about 1/2 pound) to cover the bottom of the brownie pan. First, put half the brownie mix into the pan and bake it while reserving the second half. Bake it until it starts to firm enough such that the caramel when poured on top doesn't mix with it. Using a spatula put the rest of the brownie mix on top of the caramel and bake the whole thing until a toothpick insert is removed clean.
