Freezing frosted/iced cakes

I have a couple of cakes to do for the weekend and a baker who's off until Monday. Can I frost/ice them today and keep them in the freezer?

I am using a buttercream but subbing out half of the butter for b-flavored crisco as this weekend is supposed to be very hot and humid and I dont' want the frosting sliding off the cake.

Alternately, if I frost the cakes today and DON'T freeze them, will they still be good for Saturday?

I'd frost them and refrigerate them today. If they're to be served on Saturday they'll be fine.
