Hi, I would love you guys to tell me and everyone which restaurants are the best and worst in NYC so to make myself a restaurant guide when I move there next month. I know it's also going to be helpful for other people.
Thanks!

I could help you more with Chicago restaurnats but NY....I hear Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay's restaurant, is up there. I'll probably get slated for this, being Bobby isn't too popular around here and Mesa seems like a mainstream, typical place to say good things about. I have never been but I know people who have. The food was excellent there......so I have been told.

FYI

L’Ecole, The Restaurant of The French Culinary Institute, and The Brandy Library, NYC’s favorite location to enjoy fine spirits, are pleased to announce their first annual Whiskey Dinner.

Please join us at L’Ecole on Wednesday, November 18 at 7pm for a special 6-course tasting menu paired with 6 Scotch whiskies. We’ll be featuring whiskey from distillerura such as Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, and Ardmore. Recipes for the dinner have been co-developed with FCI culinary students and selected by a panel of chefs, including our Deans André Soltner and Alain Sailhac, Joey Campanale of Dell’Anima and L’Artusi, spirit sommelier Ethan R. Kelley, and others.

We look forward to sharing this special evening with you. The price is $175 per person and includes tax and gratuity.

As I said in a similar thread, I don't frequent many fine restaurants (can't afford to) but Cosmic Cantina is one of my favorite NYC eateries.

Where are you moving in New York City? Manhattan?

If so, I would recommend New York City New York Steak House, Ruth's Chris Prime Steak Restaurant

For steaks it's Peter Luger, Old Homestead, Smith & Wolenski, The Palm all top Quality from what I remember. Regular places to many good ones to mention. Again check Zagat

I live in Manhattan, I get to go anywhere I want for my birthday dinner and this year I'm going to Peter Luger in beautiful downtown Williamsburg :)
