Here's a Japanese Tofu Recipe Side dish. Simple to make and very delicious. Goes great with any main course dish. Enjoy.

Ingredients:

☆ 2 pack soft tofu
☆ 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
☆ 5 leaves green perilla, cut into thinly strips
☆ dried bonito flakes
☆ white sesame

For sauce:
☆ 1/4 cup soy sauce
☆ 2 tsp sugar
☆ 1tsp mirin
☆ 1/2tbsp grated ginger

Direction:

1. Make sauce: Put the soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and grated ginger in a small pan. And boil briefly and let stand until cool.

2. Place the tofu in a dish, and place the ricotta cheese on top of tofu and sprinkle with the green perilla, dried bonito flakes, and sesame. Finally, pour over the sauce and serve immediately.

Thank you for sharing the recipe, Naoko. I don't know how many people outside of Japan would have access to Perilla. Is there any substitue - or can the recipe still be enjoyed without it?

It sounds very different to what I've tried, but interesting too.
