Have you ever made coffee with liquids other than water?

I was making myself some coffee this morning, and I started wondering if it would be possible to brew the coffee with something other than water. I was wondering if any of you had tried.

I've thought about brewing it with milk but I don't want to mess up my coffee maker. Let me know how it turns out.

You certainly wouldn;t want to put milk through a coffee maker, but you could use a paper filter and pour boiling milk through it - not putting it into the electric pot though!!!
Haven't tried it myself, though.
But you say "liquid" - are there other liquids you were considering (any that come to mind are pretty awful - orange juice? tea? apple juice? bla. )

You could use the method that I use for my coffee creme brulee. I use a large tea ball and a paper filter and heat it on the stove. That's with heavy cream but milk should work just as well.

In Cyprus they make frapee with milk, nescafe, sugar and ice. MIx in cocktail shaker and serve in a tall glass. I used to drink these most mornings sitting outside a cafe in Paphos Harbour prior to going to work or having a swim in the Med....great memories;)

I've never tried it, but I don't see why you couldn't use a French press for brewing with milk, etc.
I think I'll try it with kahlua.

I've tried brewing coffee in milk, in a French press. It seemed the coffee didn't release as much flavor, though it could be that the milk flavor drowned out the coffee some. At any rate, I haven't done that again.

might as well just drink a latte!

I tried the french press with the afore mentioned desert and had no luck. it has to steep for quite a while to take on the flavor.

I'm with Just Jim. Give it some Kahlua.

Not sure you can play about with the brew. I'd be adding the good stuff after.
