I am looking for suggestions. Halibut w/brown rice or roasted butternut squash puree. I would like to get some cranberry in the dish, was thinking of a relish on the halibut. Any suggestions????????

A tart cranberry relish would make a nice color and flavor contrast, especially if you use the (sweetish) squash puree. If the choice is between the rice and the puree, I would go with the rice, because it's chewier and offers some texture contrast as well.
To me, a plate is almost never complete without a green veg as well, although you could just garnish with something bright green. Again, for contrast against the white of the fish, brown/orange of the rice or squash, and red of the cranberries.

Suzanne,
Sounds wonderful.
I have Gastrique on the brain, forgive me. Render the cranberry , make the gastrique, glaze the Halibut and serve with rice as a side.
Dessert.....Roasted Butternut squash custard pie.
In any event , no matter how or what its made with, its food, and it always tastes great when your starving. :)

You could put some dried cranberries mixed into the brown rice- or even the squash. I think both would be nice, but I have had it with the brown rice and it is very good!
