I make special brownies for my christmas party. I do a frosting i learned from Julia Child that is incredibly easy. I think it's equal parts of chocolate (semi sweet cooking chocolate) and butter. You melt the choc over hot water and then off the heat beat in pieces of butter until it's about the consistency of mayonnaise. (I usually use a little more choc and a little less butter, maybe 2/3 o 1/3 but it's very flexible).
If it doesn't get thick, put the double boiler over cold water, if it gets too hard before all the butter is in, put a minute over the warm water.
Spread over the brownies, you can scatter sliced almonds on top if you like.
I cut them in small diamonds. They're quite rich so you want small pieces, and diamonds are very attractive and seem very special.
