Hi, I just discovered this forum today when doing a Google search on flour! I am the owner of a small organic & gluten-free bakery.

Am mostly a lurker, but will occasionally post along the way...

Hi katparadis and welcome!

You'll find plenty of other bakers here to play with, some of whom are into alternative baking (gluten free, vegan, kosher, etc.). Don't miss the photo gallery, where many have posted their work to share.

I have a friend with gluten intolerance, and it's opened a whole new world to me! I hope to learn more so I can make yummy things for her to enjoy. While I'm a home cook, I have learned a great deal from the professionals here.

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome...I got started with the gluten-free at home as my little sister is a severe celiac & an aunt who is mild, so I was constantly adapting recipes for them for family functions & when I decided to open my bakery, the first thing they both asked was...GLUTEN-FREE...RIGHT?? :-)

I mostly stay with the whole grain with my regular bakery line, as that seems to be the biggest demand...

It's alot of fun and I get a huge amount of satisfaction out of the bakery & I have a never ending supply of friend, neighbours & family wanting to be "guinea pigs" when I test a new recipe!

I am always looking for new ideas & recipes, so this should be a good place for me to share ideas, recipes, & conversation.

Thank you! I got that from a past life...I was an owner/operator, I owned a semi truck for over 20 years, I ran the far north, Arctic. One time a guy watched me come across the ice (ice road) on the MacKenzie River & he said... Daym woman! the devil must just crap(he used the "S" word LOL) when yer feet hit the floor every morning!!

It's always suited me...go git 'em give 'em -ell kinda gal!

:peace:

That I do...thank you for the welcome! I am pleased with how it's going so far, it's alot of work, but I love it! I've always had a passion for baking from the time I was very young...I can remember standing on a chair with my mother & grandmother at 4 watching them both bake. It influenced me greatly!

my son used to be a chef, and is now a truck driver. Conditions where he works in Aberdeen UK are icy in the extreme. He watches an American tv programme for tips on ice driving so he can go to places no-one else will, just for the challenge...I worry!

Look forward to hearing from you, re gluten free baking and anything else ud like the post of course

I live in Dundee. About 60 miles north of Edinburgh. I have no idea where Alberta is.

hehehehh.. Alberta is in Canada..eh? :-) We are the 2nd province East of the Pacific Ocean! I am roughly an hour east of the capital city of Edmonton, which is roughly in the middle of the province, about 8 hours drive to the US border, then there's another 1000 miles north of that to the Northwest Territories, and after that is (ummm) 2000 or so miles north to the Arctic Ocean! :-)...West Edmonton Mall? LOL Seems everyone has heard of THAT!

Hi Ted and welcome to Chef talk. Have you posted in the welcome forum yet? If you do, you'll be more visible as a new member and folk can be more help to you. At the moment you're a bit hidden in someone elses thread.

If you go to your user cp when you sign in there is a list of things you can edit

Hope that helps. I m not too savvy myself
