Superman

  I was reading about the favorite childhood memory foods and I thought of Superman ice cream. I used to love it. Now for some reason, I want to make it so badly. I tried to look it up, but all I find is blue moon ice cream. It wasn't what I was looking for. Does anyone have a recipe, or site I can go to? Thanks

I loved Alphaghetti when I was a kid... my mom would make it for me for lunch when I was in elementary and middle school and that, a slice of bread with butter and some fruit cocktail for dessert was my favourite lunch.  I haven't eaten it since I was expecting our son.. I saw an ad on tv for Zoodles and I said.. that's animal shaped alphagetti and I love alphaghetti!.. and put on my shoes to go get me a can of zoodles. 
OK ... where am I going?.. and WHY am I in this handbasket??

I have never heard of superman ice cream. We had astro pops, push-ups, drumsticks and in the early 80's the infamous Choco Taco. And those single serving cup things with the wooden spoon. best of luck on your search.

The best ice cream cones I remember as a kid was at this mom and pop variety store on Crockett street.. the ice cream was in a waxed paper roll and they put it on the cone and gave us a paddle thingy to eat it with.  That was sooo good!! 

I grew up with a dairy queen in my backyard and I loved buster bars... my mom would have a sweet tooth now and then and sent me through the back fence (we backed on to the dq) for some treats.  I loved their butterscotch dip cones too and the man who owned the dq would give me a butterscotch dip cone with sprinkles on it every time I came in.. I loved that man and his miracle ice cream cones!

Nice, ice cream is one of my biggest childhood memories, even though im only 15, its still nice to think about coming home from the last day of school and summer break officially started and my mom would pick me up from school that day and we'd go to an ice cream shop. And the ice cream man was from Italy, and was the nicest guy ever. He also made the best ice cream. I still remember when he invited me to come watch how he makes them. I did, and he showed me how he makes his chocolate ice cream, using lindt truffles, its so good. You know what, ill just go over to him tommorow, and ask him how he makes superma ice cream Well, i solved my own problem, ill come back tommorow and say how its done.

i dont know i make some really good ice cream. made a nice blood orange custard ice cream today at school and it was the bomb. home made ice cream is good no matter what flavor. not sure about all those other ice creams i rather make one that doesnt have all the additives or colorings

 no no no thats not the point. I haven't had superman ice cream since I was eight. I wanna have it one more time just to laugh and remember what it was like as a kid, then make it on my own. If it's how I think its made, i already have the colorings. Red- beet juice, you wont taste flavor and it works really weel. blue- I cannot give that away, my little brother works at a farm, and he came home and brought me a plant that makes blue dye, but i wont give it away. Yellow- a mix of the blue and chlorophyll that I learned how to make/extract from the Thomas Keller French Laundry cookbook. And don't get me wrong, I don't eat fake foods, Its just a memory. I have a white mountain ice cream machine that i got for my birthday and have been using it to make stracciatella ice cream, mandarin olive oil, strawberry, chocolate, coconut, and almond.

  Generally, blue with confectionary is associated with blueberry.  Kind of like blue curaco with liqueurs.  Or blueberry koolaid.  or blueberry "Mr. freezees"   I have never tried "Superman" ice cream  as I'm from the western side of Canada and apperantly this is a midwestern or Michigan thing so I have no clue as to what the other colors might impart but on my search there are some theories that were brought up.

 Apperantly the blue in Superman is commonly identifyed as "Blue Moon"  which is a flavour that is indescribable but I found a website that has a recipe for that flavour.

Thanks alot, and yea i heard it was blue moon too, but i'm not in michigan, im in florida. And once again, I DONT use artifical flavors ok, i'm from switzerland and move to U.S as a kid. My parents own a wine and cheese store here with imports from switzerland and a few other european countries. Trust me, we never eat take out, or gummy worms or anything like that, i just want to try and recreate a childhood memory

I have 2 childhood favourites... Feeding my baby brother Farex (baby porrige)  1 spoon for him, 2 for me.
And my mum made me soft boiled eggs mashed up with butter in a teacup with toasted bread  (soldiers) fingers to dip in

The problem here is you are trying to recreate something with no artificial flavours based off a product that is primarily flavoured with artificial flavouring.  Not impossible.  If it is like bubble gum flavour then start with raspberry and blueberry.  work your way from there.  I would help you by doing some of my own experiments but I have never tasted any of those flavours so I have no control to base anything from.

 HAHAHA, i found out how he makes it, its really smart, no artificial flavors either, and I have my natural colorings so now i can make it. Although, I tasted it and noticed i dont really like it anymore. Oh well, I remembered what it was like being kid and that was the point so i'm fine.
