Is there any update on the legistlation that was proposed in 1999?  My daughter and I are looking to start our own business out of our home.  Is this allowed in Texas?

Currently this is not permitted in your home in the Sate of Texas. However, the state did bring the issue up in the past legislative session , although they didn't have a chance to vote on it before they ended their session. It's referred to as a Cottage law. Many states have recently legalized cottage laws and with unemployment at its current levels, it is probably inevitable that Texas will as well. Hang in there.

Go here http://www.texascottagefoodlaw.com/. Sign the petition and start a dialogue with your state rep. It helps to woo them with baked goods. The legislation starts meeting again in Jan 2011 and we plan to file early (and often, lolol).
