I remember going to a deli 30 years ago and getting something I think was called a sweet bagel.  It wasn't the sort of fancy chocolate chip type bagel you see today.  It had a very different texture.  It was sort of the same shape, but the dough was skinny and had a big hole in it.  The texture was dry and firm, but fairly tender when you bit into it.  It had a very coarse crumb.   It was slightly sweet, eggy (?), no flavor other than wheat flour, egg? and sweet.  It may have been rolled in sesame seeds.

I don't live near any delis now, does anyone know what these are called?
