I am looking to remodel my kitchen and will include a propane gas range top with a char grill. I'm looking for a grill that is able to generate a great deal of heat so as to char (blacken) the outside of steaks, hamburgers, etc., while still maintaing a rare interior. Does anyone know which range top/grills will fit this requirement? I've been thinking about the Wolf SRT364C, but am wondering if the infrared element gets hot enough. Also, what happens if grease hits the infrared elemnt and flares up....will the flame ruin the element? Can the unit be operated without the metal heat distribution plate between the infrared element and the grate?
Any other suggestions (DCS< Kitchenaid, etc.)?
