I know it's only August but I'm planning on making alot of gifts this year so I need to get started early so that I can enjoy December and not feel rushed off of my feet like I do every year and end up abandoning my craft projects and buying last minute pressies instead.
How early do you think of or plan for Christmas?
This is my first year planning ahead.. most of the time I make start in October then it's mayhem the first week of December to get everything done.
I know that I have a limited amout of time to accomplish alot so wish me luck! I'm going to knit scarves for a few friends, and I have some Christmas fabric that I plan to sew into Christmas placemats and runners. One of my friends gave me an awesome gift a few Christmases ago.. it was some of her homemade bath and body products as well as an auction lot of vintage craft patterns. I was going through them the other day and I saw one for Huck Weaving, and after looking it up on the web it looks pretty easy to learn so she is going to be getting a towel that I will have decorated using the huck fabric that was included in the gift she gave me.
I'm adding a couple of people to my gift list this year too. One is someone who has been one of my closest friends for over twenty five years and she and I never did the present thing but she's going through a rough patch right now with her family and her own health so I am going to make her a purple scarf. Like me her favourite colour is purple and I can see her enjoying the scarf I plan to make. The other is an aquaintance.. we met via a mutual friend and she's also going through a rough patch so I want to do something for her as well.
I have an hour commute each day to and from work so I can use that time to get some knitting done and every other sewing project I do from now until it's done is going to be a Christmas craft.
Baking starts on November 25th and I think I may put some of my own home canned goods into gift baskets this year too.
