Should I prune my cucumber plants?

My latest batch of cucumbers have not been uniform shapes or have riped evenly. I noticed that the vines are getting very long and thick so I thought I might pruned them back a bit. Is this a good idea? Anyone else prune their cucumber vines back? The longer vines really don't look healthy to me so what should I do?

I'm not sure I'd prune them, per se,  because the cuts could open them to certain bugs,  but pinching off any new growth might be helpful.

Yes you can trim them back. As for different size and shapes, on some varieties, I get the same thing. I pick mine when they are about 1/2 of their mature size. If you leave them on, like all plants they will stop producing

you can surely prune them, pruning them would not harm your cucumber plants especially if  the vines you'll prune are not healthy anymore....

I'm also getting curious regarding pruning, does anyone can share how to prune it? Thanks in advance.
