Looking for a New Orleans BBQ Shrimp receipe

Hey guys new to the forums, ive tried this dish at an establishment called Rock and Fish in Manhattan beach and i fell in love with this dish it had the perfect blend of spices it was some what sweet and spicy but the spice wasnt overwhelming at all the best way i can describe it was that it came in a skillet with the following ingredients I know its next to impossible to get the exact same flavor but i was wondering if anyone can give me a combination of ingredients that would give me a nice amount of spice, without overwhelming the over all balance of the flavor

 

 

 

HOT, HOT, HOT, but also SWEET. Shrimp sautéed with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes,
mushrooms, and lemon, served over sticky rice.

There are tons of recipes for NObbq shrimp. The recipe that I like most is from Mr. B's Bistro in the Quarter. But with all recipes, I like to make changes to fit my taste. Use the recipe below. I also like to add some dried herbs. I have used almost every dried herb available, but my favorites for this dish are rosemary, thyme, and savory. That being the case, use herbes de provence if you have it. I also up the amount of lemon juice slightly. The key with this dish is to experiment. There truly is no perfectly correct way to make it. I have known people to saute the shrimp (what I believe is the best method), bake the shrimp, and even grill them. But this recipe should get you on the right track.

thanks a lot bro i will try that and report back for sure...the thing as an amatuer cook i dont know which spices go with which, or if one type of spice would clash with another...  the thing that got me about this dish when i ate it, was it was at my cousins bday and her bf was sitting in front of me and once he tried it he basically at off the skillet the sauce was that good is the only way i can come up with something spicy and at the same time a bit of sweet would be only to experiment? also what would you recommend with something to sweeten up a dish per say thanks for the replies cheers

Try Paul Prudhomme's recipe, right here at his website. It's brilliant and EVIL.

 

In his book Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen, he gives a list of ingredients for the seasoning mix --- that was before he started the whole "seasoning magic" blend thing. The blends are pretty good, to be honest, so I'd start with that and if you want to tinker, buy his book --- it's genius --- and go from there.
